Modern Life

How did Seth know?

On Friday Seth stopped by the Oak Barrel for happy hour. He snuck in the back door and sat at the first stool. “What’s up Jovel?”

With his back to Seth, Jovel poured a tap beer. “What’s up Seth? Racer for ya?”

“Right on. It’s that time of day. Where is everyone?”

“It’s still only four-thirty.” Jovel turned around and handed him the Racer. “Here you go. I poured it when I saw you pull in.”

Jovel looked out the window behind Seth. “Hey, Rodger’s here.”

Seth turned to see Rodger’s car roll past the porch to the parking area.

Jovel spun around, grabbed another cold glass from the fridge, and started to pour another Racer. “Tell me Seth, I saw the picture you sent of the White House. We only saw one, right? What were you trying to say about the formation?”

Seth took a drink and settled into his seat. “There’s a similar description in the Bible.”

Jovel set Rodger’s beer on a napkin in his usual spot. “You mean there are UFO’s in the Bible?”

“In a number of places, but one of my favorites is written in the book of Ezekiel.”

Rodger walked in and sat in his normal spot at the other end of the bar, placing his bag of literature on the seat next to him. “Hi guys.”

Jovel wiped the bar near Rodger while pointing his thumb back toward Seth. “Seth was telling me about the UFOs seen over the capital. What do you think they were?”

Rodger rummaged through his bag and pulled out a book. “This is Chariots of the Gods. It was written in the 60s I believe. Anyway, the author, Von Daniken, proposes the technology for many of the ancient civilizations, and their religions, were given to us by space travelers.”

Seth took another deep drink of his beer. “I didn’t know you we’re into the UFO thing? I would have thought it too sketchy to be considered tangible for you?”

Rodger smiled and slid the book across the bar to Seth. “Oh, I didn’t bring this for me. I brought it for you. This has been on my shelf since college, and I doubt I’ve opened for at least thirty years.”

Seth took it and looked it over. “Yeah, I know this guy. He is on a lot of those UFO shows.” He put the book down and reached in his pocket, pulling out his phone.

Robert saw Seth’s new gadget. “Is that the new iPhone?”

“Yup.” Seth slid his finger across the screen to unlock it. He navigated around, sliding here, expanding there. “I’m going to get online and pull up something from my website for Jovel. I have a description of the formation in the paper. I was going to recap it for him. Are you interested?”

“I don’t need a description. I can see them.”

“Yeah, but this one is from the Bible, and it was written long before anything other than a bird could fly.”

Rodger looked at the ceiling and let out a little sigh. “Naaa. I think I’ll read a bit and let my mind get away from all this speculation for a half hour or so. I need a break from it all. It’s on every channel, every front page, and every radio station.”

Seth put his phone down. “Well Ezekiel saw highly polished bronze, or glowing metal objects, and they were flying in formation.”

Jovel laughed. “Where does it say that?”

“In the first chapter of Ezekiel. They were discs. He called them a wheel within a wheel. He described four wings, meaning to fly any direction, and four faces, meaning to see any direction. The ‘four’ represents north, south, east and west. I have a book on the use of numbers in the Bible that breaks it down.”

“So he saw a flying wheel?”

“Well if you were alive during his time, a wheel is the closest thing you could use to describe them. It gets better. They didn’t only fly, they landed. They had straight legs with pod like feet, and they were metallic in appearance.”

“Straight legs?”

“Yeah, and I saw a show on the History channel where one of the designers of our space vehicles said they pulled from this description to get their design, so I’m not just ‘interpreting’ my meanings. If you let this sink in, imagine how many other things will become clear.”

Jovel leaned on the counter. “And, pray tell, who was flying them?”

“Ezekiel said they were under a person’s control. A man’s hands controlled the wings and took them in any direction. Think about what he witnessed, and then think even deeper about how or why this description made it into the scriptures. There must be a reason.”

Jovel pondered. “A man huh? Where does this man live? Are they coming from behind Saturn or, no, Mars?”

Rodger looked at Seth. “My Favorite Martian… He’s got you there.”

Seth took a drink of beer. “Okay… Since they moved about the sky, that means they travel, but we never see them coming or going. It says they came and went in the wink of an eye. I propose they were shifting dimensions. That way it would happen in a flash.”

Rodger leaned back in his chair. “Came and went from where?”

Seth leaned toward Rodger. “Well, they weren’t coming or going from any distant place. I’d say they are already here, and they have always been here. They are waiting to reveal their presence in accordance with what is written. Why do you think Ezekiel was able to record this encounter? There are others too, both in the Bible and in secular history.”

Jovel tapped on the bar. “Hey. So you’re saying that UFOs are watching us now, and they have people in them? Then why are so many stories about aliens scary?”

Seth shrugged his shoulders. “Those are stories and movies made by men. Besides, if God has these vehicles, don’t you think the dark side has theirs as well? And if you think there are monsters in them it makes you weak and vulnerable when they do appear.”

Rodger stood up. “Seth. I love biblical literature, but what you’re saying has been presented many different ways by others, some of them quite famous for their spiritual contributions.”

“Yeah, the Pope is famous, but I wouldn’t put his perspective any closer to the truth just because other men elevated him to his position.” Seth looked back and forth between Rodger and Jovel. “Listen. Ezekiel wasn’t giving an analogy, or a parable. He was doing his very best to describe how God traveled to and from to visit him. Personally I don’t believe in UFOs, because the U is for unidentified and these have been identified for quite some time. How do you think God went to see Job, or Adam? Better yet, how did Satan get here to tempt Job, or Eve?”

Rodger shook his head. “If God is omni-everything, then He can do what He wants. Your God is an invisible force.”

“You said He’s invisible, I didn’t.” Seth finished his beer. “Don’t confuse the spiritual body with spirit. The spiritual body is a version of you that doesn’t age or erode. Paul taught that. I’m telling you God isn’t invisible, and He doesn’t look like an old man with a gray beard either.”

Jovel rubbed his chin. “So in heaven we will look like we do now?”

“Pretty much. There will be differences. I mean, handicapped people will be whole, and we won’t be subject to disease or birth complications. Anyway, everybody has a soul, and a spirit. The Holy Spirit is God’s spirit, which is likened to an invisible force, but the battle between good and evil is very tangible. It features God, Satan, and us… beings, not forces.”

Rodger put his book down. “So God and Satan fly around in these vehicles? Come on Seth…”

“We know from Revelation that the anti-Christ will be revealed, and that particular entity will be Satan himself. How do you think he will get here when he comes to apply for the role of earth’s king? I bet it’s in one of those vehicles, and I know he will be a physical entity. When Christ returns He isn’t invisible either, because everyone recognizes Him. We wouldn’t recognize a spiritual force or cloud of energy. In fact we will see Him descend just as He was seen when He ascended. The question is will you be shocked to see these things or will you praise Ezekiel for giving you the mental preparation to handle such a dramatic event?”

Rodger tapped on his glass for another beer and turned to Seth. “If what you describe happens, I will remember this conversation and act accordingly. Until then though, I don’t see much difference between your interpretation and the next guy’s. If I did I would have to start to examine why, and that would mean way too much time in the scriptures. I would rather be reading other books.”

Seth’s phone chimed with a text message from Megumi. “Dinner is on the table. Hurry back.” He quickly tapped in a reply.

Jovel joked. “Is that your boss calling?”

“Yup. Ring me up, I got to run. Keep your eye on the sky boys. It’s pretty clear something is happening, and what if it’s this year!”
