Free For The Taking

Why were the virgins kept?

Popular Perspective

Free For The Taking

The accusation is that Moses ordered the death of all except the virgin girls, and they were taken as booty (no pun intended) in Numbers 31: 15-18.

Okay, that imagery is disturbing if it's as presented, but is that ever the case? Is the Bible caught red handed, or is Jerry Seinfeld scratching his nose while the other person perceives a pick?

What's going on?

In order to clarify we have to establish a base for what is going on. The Midianite culture had false religious practices, and the intermixing with the tribes allowed their influences to seduce Israel into idolatry. Very similar to the sexual freedom that is chased in America today, only tied to their gods instead of individuality.

Numbers 25: 1

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

Numbers 25: 2

And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods instead of the individuality our culture is chasing.

Because of this Moses was instructed to avenge Israel from the people that mislead them, so they warred against the Midianites. They killed all the adult males, except the males who were not in the battle. Then they took all living humans, beasts, and the spoil (gold chains, jewelry, and things of that nature), and returned.

When they returned they had to stay separated for 7 days as part of a purification process, so Moses, the priest, and all the princes of the congregation went out to meet them in their temporary camp. Instead of celebrating the victory though, Moses flared up with righteous indignation at what he saw... he was pissed!

Numbers 31: 14

And Moses was Roth with the officers of the host with the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.

Angry after a win?

Why would Moses be angry after a victory? Because even though they won the battle, they didn't cure the cancer... which was the whole point of the battle. Instead they brought the cancer back to their own camp. Remember, this was a war over false teachings and idolatry, so we're talking about culture, and we're talking about politics, and about how those outside influences corrupted what was intended.

Numbers 31: 15

And Moses said unto them, have you saved all the women alive?

He said - Did you really bring those women to our camp! These are the same women who had seduced the men of Israel into worshiping Baalpeor, leading them into idolatry. This is what we are fighting over and you bring the influencers here alive!

Numbers 31: 16

Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord.

That word "trespass" is maal. It means treachery, unfaithfulness, and breach of trust. It usually gets translated to trespass or transgression. These are the people who's adult pursuit is of the world so to speak. Their thinking is already ingrained in their hearts and minds.

It's no different than me writing this and thinking an adult atheist is going to read it and change their mind. It's not happening. They have their perspective, and it is what it is.

They could not bring these people into the camp, otherwise it's only a matter of time until the same cancer spreads. Again, this is a cultural influence. Why do you think the people in other states are getting overwhelmed and angry with people moving from California? What is their number one complaint? It's that they bring their politics with them... Well this is politics times religion, and that includes education, municipalities, etc. There is no assimilation, just dilution.

Who was killed and why?

Killing every male would effectively exterminate any Midianite future. It's a simple strategy that should have taken place back on the battlefield. Letting them live now would lead to a resistance fueled by the deepest hate, and from within.

Numbers 31: 17

Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

Killing those who were not virgins reflects women of age, meaning women who are sexually active. Most would be married in families, while others are pursuing an "adult" life. It doesn't matter who's the man of the house, women are the core influence of a culture. They are the very pulse of culture, and these particular women were intimately involved in leading the nation of Israel into idolatry.

For the purposes of this war, these women had blood on their hands.

Numbers 31: 18

But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

The goal was to eliminate the Midianites. Keeping their virgins for sexual reasons would go against the very laws that started this whole war. That concept is a circular reference, so it eliminates itself.

The reason the virgin girls were spared is because they were typically before the age of accountability. That means innocent in God's eye. They were not locked into the depth of adult culture yet. These girls would be made into servants where there was no threat of them continuing their heritage.

The victims were in position to continue the very threat that caused the war. The saved were innocent kids that were given the ability to live even though everyone they knew and trusted was gone. It may have been as a servant, but it was far more luxurious than death by the sword. The same is for each of us as we pick up our cross one by one.

Separate from Traditions

America has taken in enough cultural influence that it has lost is foundation in the very same way we just read... it was in just the 4th book of the Bible, yet it's happening now when everyone has access to the data, but they think they are so smart.

God doesn't like it when cultures lead people into worshiping other gods or religions, and when it leads to sexual events it should be obvious, but an even hotter anger gets intensified from those who falsely teach in the pulpits today. Their reach is huge, and their message is a tease. They will bring you in, but you're being set up to be a victim. Specially those teaching the popular rapture doctrine. It's setting the congregation up hook, line, and sinker.

When an entity arrives and claims to be the second coming of Christ that makes it Christian in nature for everyone in the world regardless of what you believe today. Who do you think the world is going to turn to for the details? These guys who don't even know what's coming! They are too busy pursuing their denomination. They will listen to any spirit that tickles their ears. Don't take their ride.

A denomination is a back seat driver.

A denomination already has a map in mind. It's already printed. They are focused on their spot in time if you will. But that's not how the the word works. It is pregnant, and reveals meanings in the times they were intended for. That's why Daniel was told to seal up that 70th week. It wasn't for his time. It was for ours. Sadly the focus of the denominations is on their established positions, and that kinda makes their scriptural rotation fixed in a way, blinding them from the upcoming curve in the road.

The denominational mouth is working, but their eyes and ears aren't. My evidence is that when it happens the whole world whores after it... and that means the Christians pointed to and endorsed it... Every Christian is going to take it.

From history we can see the same examples repeatedly played out, but why?

If you consider all souls are the same age in the eternity (appearing roughly 30ish), then my grandpa and I are the same. We just came here for our short life's at a different time. You and I share an overlapped time, but back in heaven we are all the same age, because we don't age.

The critical point being we were all together at the Katabole (Satan's overthrow attempt), and the experience of that time was common to everyone. The circumstances for which each person took there position was from a common experience at the same time. So although we may come spread throughout the years of this earth age, we are all being tested based on where we stood then. We all did it then for the same reasons we do what we do now. That's why history repeats. Everyone faces the same test in different times. The lesson is there.

Same souls, different toys. Nothing is new under the Son.
