Young Earth Creationism
How old is the earth, and does it matter?
Introduction
A lot of churches teach that the earth is only thousands of years old instead of millions of years old. They leverage the scriptures to support their positions, and squeeze everything we know about the earth's history into a 7-10,000 year window. That includes the dinosaurs being a 6th day creation when man was created (because they walked on land), and became extinct during Noah's flood.
Recently I watched an interview where a Young Earth Creationism scholar presented the key things that pulled him to believe. The episode is available online, and I encourage everyone to give it a listen:
How Old Is the Earth … Really? | Guest: Dr. Brian Thomas | 8/25/23
The points below are presented in the flow of the discussion. The exact timing or reason for the comment might seem out of context if you aren't familiar with the episode, but you really don't need a question to read the answers... it works. It will get polished, but for now there's enough raw meat here to establish correction, open quite a few doors, and invite important questions.
The rock level.
There was a global flood that destroyed everything, and the rock level is a great example of how science and the scriptures back up each other. However the rest of this document will show this flood was from an earlier event than Noah's time.
Frog thoughts.
We know from frogs to the West African Lungfish there are things that go dormant, but if frogs existed then and now maybe they have a different design? For example do they have eternal souls, or are they part of the creepy crawly things that are always a part of earth's nature? I'm sure there were ants and spiders during dinosaur times too. The eternal souls are people and the animal kingdom (land, sea, air). At what point it goes from a soul to a natural temporary thing is on God's scale, not mine.
Geological timing.
The speed of a geological event can happen fast, but that doesn't mean everything happened fast. The Grand Canyon, the rise of the Rockies, and the movement of the continents are all examples that challenge the young earth calendar. Just back up the movement of the earth's plates, calculate the time it would take for them to reconnect, and that will give you an indication of how long ago this current condition was set in motion.
Only 7,000 years old?
The earth is not 7,000 years old. Even by their own math. Days 1-6 are creation, with a day of rest on the 7th. That's the 7,000. But then you have to add 4,000 years from Adam to Christ, and 2,000 since. If you think Adam was on the sixth day your math should be 12,000 years old, but as I'm about to document we are at 13,000 years, and right on the cusp of going into the second day of rest. The second 7, which is the millennium, or 1,000 year period starting when Christ returns. We are in overtime for the second coming, and the start of The LORD'S Day.
- 1948 marked the generation of the fig tree (the generation that shall not pass until He returns).
- We are living as a modern Sodom and Gomorra, and the days of Noah are knocking on the door (giving and taking with the fallen).
- World births are dropping so fast (most of us are here, or already returned).
Get your key.
There was indeed something before Genesis. We are surrounded by physical evidence, but we also have tons of Biblical evidence. Just like in the movies the details to key things that were before we dropped in the story are sprinkled throughout. The Bible is full of scriptures that describe the time before Genesis, or address how that time applies to us and our purpose today. It is the single biggest key to unlocking the Bible. It also doubles as evidence that the Bible was inspired by God because these details lock them into the very same concepts, and to this date there really isn't any denomination teaching these facts... It isn't new. It was always there, but it is the Holy Spirit (or Comforter) that releases information when the time is appropriate. Remember, Daniel was told to seal up the scriptures because it wasn't for his time. This isn't a tin foil lined rabbit hole. It's very scriptural, and digging for these details is how we get under His protection. If you pick any topic to dig into, start here and your Bible will spring to life like going from silent films to today's sensory overloads.
What's a thousand years?
The 1,000 years per day has more than one level of teaching:
- It helps unlock the details of Genesis, and gives timing for The LORD'S Day,
- It shows that on the other side we don't age,
- It gives perspective to how fleeting this time is in the big picture,
- It puts a bow on the Three Earth Ages (before Genesis, now, after His return).
Dinosaurs eat people.
The dinosaur was not here at the same time as mankind. They did not live on their own island separated from us. There were dinosaurs in the ocean and in the air, so migration wasn't contained. We find the bones of all types all over the world. They were not isolated, and neither were people. For religions claiming dinosaurs never existed you will find the brontosaur described in the 38th chapter of Job. It's only fitting it came out as God was chastising Job for listening to bad advice from so-called experts. If you examine the description there is only one animal that meets the criteria. Hippos don't have a tail like a cedar tree, alligators don't eat off the tops of the trees, and giraffe legs are spindly. The behemoth is the brontosaur.
The process to make a diamond is estimated to take between 1 and 3 billion years. I get it though... At some point there was a beginning, when God set all this in motion. So it's very possible He spoke it and the earth was manifest in a state where things like diamonds were present in each of the various "natural" stages. That's a very reasonable concept for the earth as a machine, but we have dinosaur bones from living creatures. We know they were flesh animals. It doesn't matter if they are in oil or not, they were here as a living thing. That puts them on this earth's timeline, and at a time before the creation described in Genesis.
Genesis 1: 1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1: 2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Did you know the word "was" in verse two can also be translated "became"? How would your Biblical view change if it would have been translated to this as it should:
Genesis 1: 2
And the earth became without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Let's look at one more word in that same verse... void. What did God say about the earth being void:
Isaiah 45: 18
For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.
The void in Genesis 1: 2 and vain in Isaiah are translated from the same root word... Tuhu. God's saying here that the earth was not created void. It was created like it was designed, and then something made it become void. Everyone knows segments of this story, but they have a hard time putting it in order. It was during that time before Genesis when Satan pulled 1/3 of the stars to his side and fought for God's seat. We all know there was a rebellion and a war. What we wrestle with is reconciling it featured the same souls that are in heaven now, and the souls on earth now. Us. The name of the battle was the Katabole. It ended that time period. In this second age we are in the flesh with the animals, and the next age all eternal souls will be here in spiritual bodies, both animal and us. We will cultivate the earth to be the living garden it was designed to be.
We weren't flesh which is why we don't have human bones that far back. Being in a spiritual body is the only way we could have survived during that time, because quite simply our spiritual bodies weren't on the menu. We saw them and we studied them, but they didn't see us as a food supply. On the other hand, in the first age we saw a flesh existence magnified... the ultimate survival of the fittest in a 3D world you can taste. You and I were here with the dinosaurs during that time before Genesis. I'm not talking about reincarnation, because you only get one life in the flesh. I'm talking about what Paul taught about us having two bodies. Your flesh body is how your eternal soul can experience the realities of mortality. Each soul is sent here by God, is born through woman, grows from influences, makes choices, accumulates accountability or grace, dies, and returns to the Father. But it's only the flesh part that dies. The inner you (the part that's being tested) is the same you that will be in heaven. If you are here today, and you believe you can exist again later in heaven, what is it that makes you look like you? I mean, how would I recognize you? Easy, you look like you. When Jesus comes back who is he going to look like? The exact same humanoid figure that ascended... as will you. Our spiritual body has mass. Here's a photo of human and dinosaur footprints in the same rock, and that means same time.
It was an adult foot, because we look like when we are around 30 years old. Our spiritual body is eternal, we're in our prime. We don't age because we are in the "1,000 years is as a day" state. God wouldn't say it grieved him that he made man flesh unless we weren't.
Dinosaurs on walls.
The drawing in the cave of a dinosaur is super easy to explain. If we have filled our museums with fossils often found on the beach, or desert sand, why wouldn't the people of the time of the drawing be able to find them too? That image on the wall may simply be a rendition of what they thought the bones would have constructed. If you want to explain ancient wall markings, how about the UFOs... not a lot of their bones lying around, and yet they are depicted. Like the dinosaur the UFOs are in the Bible too. Ezekiel gave a great description of these vehicles, and when you learn who was on board you will know immediately how they exist, and where they are from.
The end of the first age.
What ended the dinosaur time? A meteor or comet wiped out life on earth. That's how God ended the Katabole. It crashed through a water barrier that was above the atmosphere and struck the continent. That impact did several things:
- Caused a nuclear winter around the entire world.
- Pulled the water down and flooded the earth (water had to come from somewhere).
- All eternal souls were gathered by God (yes animals too).
- Ended in a mass of darkness with unbreathable air, or clean water... no life.
The start of this age.
Now go back and read Genesis keeping in mind the earth "became" void. We just covered how and why that happened, and this is the progression for how the earth was reset for this flesh age:
Day 1: Light.
Over time the murky dust would settle, allowing light on the side of the earth facing the sun. In the dinosaur times the waters above the air (like an egg shell around our atmosphere) refracted like a light bulb which is how the Tundra used to be lush, and deserts a garden.
Day 2: Firmament.
Day and night combined with the air settling started weather patterns that would start to clean the mess. The firmament is our zone, we can't go under water, in the earth, or to space without it. It's heaven because, heaven is wherever God is. He too came here to participate in the flesh breathing the very air we do, which is where heaven on earth comes from.
Day 3: Dry land, re-growth.
When the earth was hit by the comet it knocked our axis off 15 degrees. True north is about 90 miles off magnetic north. That's why pilots say east is least and west is best. Consider what happens to a spinning top when it isn't straight? It begins to wobble. That wobble would have an affect on the fluid waters. They receded to the poles kind of like how water stays in a bucket if you swing it. And because the earth was now exposed to space with no refraction the temperatures dropped accordingly and the glacier caps developed. The exposed land with hazy sunlight, rains and springs generating fresh water was a land being cleansed from the devastation. In time the seeds sprung back to life. Maybe a few frogs too.
Day 4: Sun, moon, stars.
After another period of time this cycle would clear the haze out of the sky, and the sun, moon, and stars were visible. Or do you think the light on day 1 was a different source? Did the light of day one replaced, and if so in the exact same spot as the sun? We get our day and our night from the sun. The sun was always there in my model, but the traditional reading would have to account for some lighting shenanigans. The stars were always there too. Yes God made them, but that was a long time before the Katabole. Interesting side note: the moon is the lesser light because in and of itself it has no light. It's light is only what it can reflect from the sun. All prophesy regarding God's children is given in days. All about Satan is given in moons (months).
Day 5: Sea life, bird life.
The next natural progression would be life coming from water. Ocean, lakes, rivers. Birds (kind of like the fish of the air) also started doing their part in prepping our garden.
Day 6: Land life, humanity.
Here we start with the wild animals. These are the beasts of the "earth". As a side not this was probably the scariest time to have been with God on that other side knowing we all have to come here once. That's the plan, right? We all have to be born from above, and of the water. That means we have to come here from there, because above is how we refer to where God is now (God knew Jeremiah before he was born). And to be born of the water means born through woman (her water breaks just before birth) as an innocent baby with no memory of that time. We only use 3-10% of our brains. What's in the other 90%? Anyway, I can only imagine when God was getting ready to make the animal kingdom all of us were concerned how the dinosaurs would look? I mean, if a T-Rex was a T-Rex today we would have no chance! But God put the animal kingdom in bodies that would allow us to have dominion, even if their individual traits would still be a reminder of their power and fierceness. One reason he did this is because this age had to appear as if man was the alpha of any existence they encounter, otherwise the next level up the food chain would become our god. Man has to think he's it, because the only thing that could get between us and God is us. That's the test. It's like a mini-first earth age. That time could have been millions of years in duration. It had to at least be long enough that everyone thought they were in the eternity, because it had to be long enough to let Satan convince 1/3 to war against God. This age is repeating in context because that is what we are being tested about. Where were you when Satan rose? Did you buy in? We're you tricked to follow by a loved one or family heritage? Did you not even see it coming because you were addicted to life? Did it startle you, but your friends convinced you it wasn't what you thought? Were you to busy getting your act together that it wasn't on your radar? Did you think it didn't matter because it was the eternity and you were already there? That seems to be the state of the world today, but I know there are those who are doing their best to balance the other side. So this isn't about what church is right or wrong, because that's doctrine. I'm talking about what's happening, and why we are here.
I know that sounds out there, but let's continue a little bit. When God said let us make man in "our" image who was he talking to? He was talking to us. We were the ones that were at the Katabole, and that's why we are the ones being tested. You can't believe this is random? How can you "return" to the Father upon death if you didn't come from the Father before conception? This is critical, because if you know you were there you now can start to piece together why you are here.
More important is he said let us make man in our own image. That's why Jesus looks like God, and that means you look like you did at the Katabole, now, and as you will in the eternity. Obviously, since we are in the flesh we are subject to the earth's reality, but in our eternal body there is no deformity, or disease. Why is this important? Because there are a lot of crazy theories of how the races developed, or who they came from, and it's ridiculous. It's pure lunacy to think all races and cultures came from two people, and quite frankly it's very insulting to those of any race. We were all created as we are. We look like we do here because that's how we looked when God said let us make man in our own image. I propose to you that on the sixth day when God "created" man and woman at the same time was when mankind (according to their race) was spread around the earth. They had dominion over the animal kingdom, and started to repopulate the earth. The ethnic were here first, and allowed to develop their cultures. They didn't know about God yet, because the content of the Bible came with Adam, and we don't have him yet. I know most think we do, but let's rest 1,000 years and see what you think?
Day 7: Rest.
We have the earth back to a livable state, and the peoples are in place establishing themselves as kings of their dominions.
Day 8: Eight means a new beginning.
After the day of rest God made Eth Ha Adam (Eth Ha means "this very" man, versus Adam of the sixth day which means mankind). God formed this Adam because the creation happened on the sixth day. The first Adam was a hunter. This Adam was put in the garden to till the soil. He was a farmer. We are talking about two different Adams (one mankind, one this very man). Consider how God made the animals that would help him till the soil. There was no man yet when God made the beasts of the "earth", yet here we have Adam naming the beasts of the "field". These are two different sets of animals (one the wild animal kingdom, one the domesticated animals).
After getting Adam set up in the garden, and creating his workforce, God made Eve from Adam. That's much different from creating man and woman at the same time. Something else is misleading here. How about Adam's rib? The word translated to rib is "curve". It's true God took Adam's curve to make Eve, but why would God need a rib, or any bone? He didn't do that with any other of the creations. Well that takes us back to the difference between why God "created" mankind, but "formed" Adam. First of all the creation already happened, but secondly Adam needed a spouse that was the same race as he was. God took his curve (Helix Curve, DNA) and made Eve. When you consider that writing was how many thousands of years before we even knew what DNA was? Yeah, the Bible is real.
The time test.
This test only goes back a short period because prior to the Katabole the earth was more like an incubator with a protective shell. That's how everything got so big and lush all over the world (palm trees in Alaska). It's only since the filtering described in Genesis that this current atmoshpere developed. Different conditions, different air.
Evolution must be constant.
If evolution was real it would have to be in a constant state. There has to be an overlapping from each to the next as long as they exist. If we have man, and we have apes, where's the stages between? An entire species doesn't graduate to a different one at once and then stop until the next jump. Anything is possible if you plant cucumbers next to melons, but that's not natural. Over time or not doesn't matter, whether engineered or not doesn't matter. Just because a chameleon is designed to change colors doesn't take away the fact it can adapt, but isn't evolving. And a tadpole to frog is engineered, but they haven't evolved.
Three floods.
There are three floods we need to be know about.
First: Katabole.
This is what ended the first earth age and reclaimed all the souls from the earth.
Second: Noah's.
This was a regional flood that reclaimed the fallen angels from the earth, and killed their offspring. If the flood was world wide where did the water go? The water from the Katabole became the polar caps during creation... I explained where the volume came from and where it went. You can't reconcile that with Noah as a global event. How much water to reach the Rockies? Plus other cultures have longer histories. Gotta explain that too.
Third: Ours.
This is the flood of lies that Satan will use to usher in his role of pretending to be Christ returned. It does say the world whores after him, so unless your familiar with all this stuff I'm sharing you're about to get swept away.
Mutation Accumulation.
This may explain the long term affects living in the flesh can have on us, but in and of itself is nowhere near capable of the claims. How long would that take to generate the races, and why are they still the same?
P.S. Keith - We have not seen a star born.
I believe that's because God created them long ago, as measured by the time it would take for their light to get here. In fact I'd propose he created them when he created all the souls. They are so distant and isolated, yet a beautiful light part of a much bigger and beautiful picture. "What if" the earth is where the energies of the stars get to intermingle? Which makes one wonder if black holes are how God deals with those who don't make it?
P.S. Pat - Like you said...
If a star is 10 light years away it takes 10 years for that light to get here, but if that star dies wont it take another 10 years for the light to go out, or can the light continue until the last gleam reaches us, even without a source?
P.S. Jeffy - One continent.
If you back up the earths plates there's a point they fit together nicely, but that was a lot longer back than Noah's flood, which is too recent on a geological scale. We have bones on all continents because at one time they were interconnected enough.
